The church taught us the word but did not empower the word with power. We were commissioned without Power baptism in Holy Spirit. There is need to seek great men of God to lay hands on you and be endued from above with power. Some people are too busy but empty. Some ministers were attacked even on pulpit because they lacked power. The disciples were taught by Jesus in Matthew 5, 6 and 7 like seminary education but were instructed to wait at Jerusalem to be empowered in Luke 24:49, “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” After training, you need power before service. 1 Cor. 2:4, “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.” Preaching the word needs demonstration of the Spirit and of power. There is Solomonic wisdom and words of human wisdom that can persuade but the demonstration of the Word involves power of God.
Baptism of Holy Spirit goes with gift for service. 1 Cor. 12:8-11, “For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”
- Word gift: Word of wisdom, word of knowledge and faith
- Vocal gift: Prophecy, diverse tongues and interpretation of tongues
- Power gift: Healing, working of miracles and faith and discerning of spirits
